WMA owned by Army COE centered around a large reservoir. Old groth patch is large and includes several different forest types (see plots 4 and 5).;Upper slope of hilll on NE aspect in a dissected plateau landscape. Forest is old growth, composed of very large, tall red oaks and sugar maples. Subcanopy is strongly dominated by sugra maple. Shrub layer includes a clonal patch of paw-paw. Herb layer is dominated by clonal, unpalateable species including black and blue cohoshes. There is downfall of various ages, but not abundant, however, air photo signature of cross-hatched downfall is distinct.
Representativeness
Large patch of old growth rich oak-hickory-sugar maple. Plot includes several large trees and a mixture of clonal shrub and herb patches which are scattered in stand.
