Large patch of mostly deciduous forest with scattered hemlock unusual for Gauley Gorge upstream. See next plots for further context. Can hear river from plot.;Small bowl just off the ridge nose of a long spit which extends between Gauley River and Peter's Creek. Gentle topography without much exposed rock, possibly influenced by shale. Community is a forest of medium sized black oaks mixed with hickory and some tulip poplar. There is a tall shrub layer of tree saplings and witch hazel and sparse ground layer dominated by shrubs and tree species.
