Above the cliff there are two virginia pine plots (GARI.65,66). Below the rock the community is a Quercus prinus / Rhododendron maximum forest. There is also a plot located near hers in that community (GARI.64).;Almost entirely bare sandstone rock wall. The nicest and possibly the largest observed in the park. There are several bolted climbing routes along the wall. The area is an estabished rock climbing area. The wall is covered with many uncollectable lichens of assorted colors. Many appear to be spray painted on the rock.
Representativeness
Large sheer sandstone cliff face. Wall was observed from the bottom with binoculars. Plot was placed to sample south facing sanstone cliff face.
Signs of rock climbing. Trampling below rock, bolts drilled into wall, climbing chalk on wall. It is likely there was vegetation and lichen removal on some of the routes.
