Upslope is a large stand of successional Virginia pine. Downslope are some large beech with fire scars and hemlock in the understory.;North facing shoulder above a small drainage before it drops into gorge. Forest is similar to some of the semi-natural oak-hickory forest at New River. Forest here has scattered oak along with cherry, tulip poplar, and red maple. Soil may be overburden from construction of spillway which could explain anomalous decisuous signature.

Represents average expression of deciduous polygon, around bend becomes more oak-hickory, downslope more tuliptree.
