Coolest, wettest N coves have Tilia - Liriodendron - Acer saccharum with lush ferns and nettle (=mixed-meso).;Middle slope bowl with large fire-scarred beech and sugar maple over mesic herb flora. Putative climax of beech - sugar maple occurs on moist slopes but less moist compared to basswood type. High diversity of rich site herbs but less cover compared to basswood type.

Convex position on nuetral aspect with scattered large beech. Convex positions on this aspect grade to oak - hickory. Patches of successional tulip poplar also intergrade.
