Cliff sections without overhang support mosses and more abundant macrolichens.;Massive sandstone cliff band with south aspect and overhang creating dry conditions sought by climbers. Overhang creates dripline below with mosses excluded from dry area. trampling below and bolts on face. Very little vegetation grows on cliff besides crustose lichens. In summer, cliff is partly shaded by adjacent trees.
