Large wetland/floodplain complex managed by the WVDNR. Back up the drainage are plots GRBO.1 and 3. Down the drainage is the Ohio River ~.2 miles away. There is a linear floodplain forest going up the Ohio River, much like plots GRBO.1 and 3 only not as nice. To the north of the plot on the higher terrace is more black walnut/Arundinaria gigantea. This type is very abundant on the high terrace of this unnamed drain. This is the nicest floodplain Brian has seen in West Virginia.;Narrow patch of Saururus cernuus overhung by Acer saccharinum. The lizards tail is confined to the wet edges and even in the channel. The channel likely backs up and floods the lizards tail quite frequently. The trees are on a slightly higher "terrace" and bend out over the channel.
Representativeness
Linear patch of a deciduously forested wetland of silver maple/green ash/lizards tail. It is similar to plots sampled at NERI. There the community occurred at the mouths of back channels, here it runs along the bottom of the unknown tributary draining t
