The plot is located ca. 0.25 miles SE of the US Rt. 19 bridge. So the road noise ruins the context of this community. Above the plot ca. 50 m is a large sandstone cliff. Below the plot ca. 150 m is the Meadow River at the end of a Class IV-V white water section. There are no obvious signs of recent logging.;Nice stand of Quercus/Rhododendron forest on duff covered colluvial boulders. Forest is mid to late successional. Dense shrub cover in plot. It is hard to see the heath cover on aerial photo. The forest is depauperate with very little herbaceous ground cover. Thin acid soils in stand from Oak and Rhododendron leaves and twigs accumulating in the crevices between sandstone rocks.
