Large house sized boulder up hill from plot. The slope between this plot and the last was mostly oak/rhodo. Until the slope got more gentle the Rhodo becomes more sparse and more successtional tree species start moving in. Some signs of climbers on a few of the nicer boulders. But there isn't near as much climbers sign as N of Rt. 19 bridge gorge right. We are almost far enough away to lose the noise pollution from Rt. 19. It almost intermingles w/ the white noise from the river but not quite.;Mid-successional forest. There are large boulders the size of houses scattered along the slope in this community. The slope is more gentle here than in many sections of the gorge. Allowing for soil development. Open forest sparsely vegetated by New York fern and heavily browsed shrubs and young trees. There is an old ATV trail in the corner of the plot. Also, there is a property boundary near plot (orange paint rings on trees) roughly paralleling the plot.
Representativeness
(see aerial photo)
Large patch community of successional forest community. Similar aerial signature to the last plot. Only here there is no Rhododendron in plot. (Although it is patchy in places and dense near river.)
