Narrow dry oak ridge. Over the slope to the N ca. 200 m the community is more mixed-mesophytic. The ridgeline to the W is narrow and rocky w/ several sandstone rock breaks.;Mid-successional Quercus rubra - Acer saccharum forest. Dense undergrowth of grass species. Some fire scarring on larger trees. Lots of standing dead and downed trees. Somewhat dry on ridge. The soil here is deeper than much of the ridge which is narrow and rocky. Few if any low shrubs, giving the forest an open appearance. The plot is on a knob which drops steeply to the N, S and E.
Representativeness
Small patch of Red Oak - Sugar Maple over Bottlebrush growing on a broader section of a narrow ridge. The community is found in several smaller patches along the narrow ridge to the W.
