Rock is used as stop for rafting and part of it is heavily trampled. Trail access down from RR grade. Riparian vegetation is narrow and patchy outside of this large bedrock terrace, small patch of BENI across river just upstream (smaller than a 400 m2 plot).;Riverside sandstone bedrock with sparse vegetation dominated by Solidago simplex and Ryncospora capitellata in cracks and mosses and lichens on the rock surface. There are several scoured out bowls which can hold water long after rain, and support animal life. Site is scoured by floods but may also be kept open by lack of soil and drought. Bedrock forms rapids here. Community is an unusual combination of prairie, wetland and aquatic elements.
