Away from the river there is an abrupt change to riverscour prairie (plot GARI.83), then another abrupt change to floodplain forest. There is another small patch of Justicia across channel at head of small island.;Riverside cobble with water flowing through most of community at sampling date. There are a few battered sycamore but community is essentially a monoculture of Justicia americana. This is not a common type on the Gauley and this is largest patch seen so far. There is a plastic bag about 3 m up in a sycamore tree indicating high flows.
Representativeness
Plot is irregular (approx 400 m2) to capture most of smal patch community of Justicia americana growing with wet feet.
