Upslope ca. 60 m is CR22. Bucklick Branch is located on ca. 0.5 km E of our plot. We have 3 plots near here from earlier this season.;Dry W facing gorge slope. Steep slope, so steep that litter/duff only accumulates at the bases of trees and on downed wood. There is a lot of garbage in plot coming from the road above. The overstory is dominated by black and chestnut oak. There is quite a bit of Tsuga in the s1 in the plot. Sparse ground cover. Lots of exposed soil. Several heath shrubs are found in the S2 layer. Several deer trails cross the plot and what forbs are here have been munched.
Representativeness
Small patch of xeric oak heath forest with some eastern hemlock coming up. Plot was placed to sample ELU 1111. Only half of stem dbh were measured due to a yellow jacket attack.
