Working cattle ranch. Limestone soils on less rocky ground is pasture with scattered trees. Most intact forest is sterile oak - white pine or oak - hickory.;Limestone outcrop on a foreknob west of New Creek Mountain. Outcrop forms a diagonal nose descending down to Lunice Creek. Forest of moderately large chinquapin growing on limestone outcrop. Cow trail bisects plot and there are many exotic weeds, but some native ground flora persists. Grazing is concentrated in pastures nearby.

Narrow corridor of calcareous oak forest which follows rock ledges diagonally up and down slope. Plot placed to maximize large chinquapin oak corresponding to bedrock outcrop.
