Upslope quickly grades to Chestnut Oak, then over ridge is rich successional woodland.;Crumbly limestone outcrop running at a diagonal off the shoulder of Knobbly Mt. above Falls Gap. Narrow zone along outcrop supports Chinquapin Oak with larger Red Oak, and smaller Red Cedar, many dying under the oak canopy. Very few shrubs. Herb layer dominated by poverty oat grass but includes fair diversity of calciphiles.

Small linear patch along top of diagonal limestone outcrop. Away from plot up and down slope quickly grades to more sterile substrate.
