Long high, windy ridgetop with large roadless section but due to be developed for wind power. This community grades into younger, more disturbed variants, often with a high Pitch Pine componet, along the road on the ridge to the North. West of ridgetop, Pitch Pine enters community. East of ridgetop, Hickory joins community.;Ridgetop Chestnut Oak - Heath forest with American chestnut in the canopy. Canopy is stunted, probably due to wind and ice stress. Numerous large snags in various stages of decay. Charcoal on one snag. Three mature Butternut trees 20m East of plot on E - facing slope.
