Remote ridge across river from agricultural valley. Lithology is mixed limestone / sandstone. Lots of weeds probably due to past grazing and / or enriched soils.;Small bowl below ledges off ridge line. Northwest aspect basswood, sweet birch, rock oak over moosewood, with marginal wood fern abundant in herb layer. Rock did not fizz with acid but has fossils (clams), and soils are circumneutral ~local enrichment.
Representativeness
Small patch of mesophytic forest below ledges - similar canopy occurs in rockier patches but this one with soil seems more diverse.
