Watergap cuts through limestone and sandstone strata (knobly and New Creek Mountains) with a diversity of lithomorphic and forest habitats. Below plot is red oak - chinquapin oak - sugar maple forest. Above cliff are junipers.;Prominent limestone cliff band exposed in a water gap in the Ridge and Valley ecoregion. Bottom of cliff is blocky limestone, capped by smoother, weathered rock. There are some overhangs and abundant mammal scat.
