Greenbrier River rail trail runs along this side of river, above floodplain. Summer residences are scattered between here and Anthony, but upstream becomes more remote.;Bedrock-boulder-cobble shelf along rapids zone of river. Bedrock controlled nickpoint creates scour zone with shrub-herb physiognomy maintained by high energy flooding. Substrate size range is diverse, so that community includes rare plants of enriched cobble (Baptisia australis) and sterile rock (Packera paupercula). High pH soil appears correlated with Baptisia, and Spiranthes lucida is also noted as a calciphitic.
Representativeness
Small patch of riverscour prairie, but large for it's type. Square plot spans width of community ~ additional area outside plot, especially downstream.
