Private farm on karst topography, with conservation easment to protect subterranean communities. Geology to south and downslope breaks to limestone, which supports an oak-ash-hickory forest with high herb diversity. Bottom of sinkhole valley is younger, brushy, with hawthorne and tall herbs.;Lower slope of side ravine which cuts through acidic geology. Small creek below flows into large karst sinkhole without surface outlet. Deciduous forest is dominated by medium large red oak and beech. Herb layer is much less diverse than last plot on limestone.
Representativeness
Large patch mixed deciduous forest on acidic substrate. Cooler and less rich compared to last plot (GREE.28).
