Landscape Narrative ? Drainage heavily impacted by roads (both sides), logging (large clear cuts), and coal mines. Small linear patches of floodplain forest still persist. Dryer beaver burns have tall herbs (Eupatorium fistulosum, Solidago canadensis etc.);Floodplain of creek with a series of beaver-influenced wetland/ponds which parallel the creek. This pool has numerous standing snags and a couple elevated Acer rubrum still barely alive. Most trees look like they've been dead for many years and beaver chewings are old but some trails appear more recent. Community is aquatic with herbs typical of recently drained beaver ponds (Eleocharis, Sparganium, Scirpus cyperinus)
Representativeness ? Plot represents shallow vegetated end of one pool of a series of beaver ponds. Species include only if they are growing in the water, or surrounded by water.
