Warmer aspects have Red Oak / Mt. Laurel - Fetterbush. Very rocky areas support Yellow Birch - Mt. Ash woodland. Most Hemlock in area are dead from adelgid but some still live.;Ridge shoulder on NW flank of ridge. Forest of short statured Red Oak with a fairly dense tall shrub layer of Witch Hazel and Striped Maple. Moderate herb cover including a number of species in Liliaceae which seem most abundant in the ridge & valley of WV. Possible fire scars on largest oaks.

Varient of Red Oak matrix forest which occurs in more mesic aspects. Grades towards Red Oak / ericad in more xeric positions.
