Additional ridge communities iclude matrix Oak / Huckleberry with Calamagrostis porteri, downslope at gap the matrix become Oak / Mountain Laurel - Minnie Bush.;Gently sloping ridgetop saddle with somewhat enriched soil supports a forest of medium large Red and Chestnut Oaks over Pignut in the subcanopy. Shade tolerant Maples are prominent in smaller sizes of the subcanopy and tall shrub layers. The herb layer has fairly high cover dominated by Bellflower. Garlic mustard is present and abundant in patches, especially in gaps.
