See HARD.2-3. There is also oak/mt. laurel and oak / grass forest. Site is accessed by rocky, primitive jeep trail (best on foot). Spectacular views in all directions.;Steep, northwest facing slope and sandstone ledges above an even steeper talus slope. Windy, exposed site. Community is a woodland of stunted red pine, here near their southernmost natural range. There is abundant red pine regeneration in all size classes - in absence of recent fire. There are old fire scars on standing snags. White pine and table mounatin pine also occurr in canopy. Understory is dominated by ericad shrubs including mountain laurel, minnie bush, blueberry and huckleberry.

Small patch of red pine, same community as HARD.3, here with less dense Kalmia and abundant red pine regeneration around a few large trees.
