Barrens and woodlands repeat on warmer aspects, seperated by more mesic white oak forest in mesic positions.;Moderately sloping south aspect slope on shale foothills. Community is a woodland dominated by eastern red cedear with post oak, pignut and other oaks. Shrub layer and tree regeneration are absent. Understory is dominated by grass and sedge. Dry site favors red cedar--many oaks are dead or dying--red cedar is likely to remain dominant on site.
