Long stretch of somewhat isolated river with no road access. Access is via the river left railroad or the river. The sample point was along a private stretch of river just downstream from the South Branch WMA. This stretch of river is known as the Trough. The river is hemmed in by Saw Mill ridge to the E and the High Knob of River Ridge to the W. This community is found scattered in slow moving stretches of the river from here, up stream to HARD.9, and likely continues even further up and downstream.;Long stretch of slack water. Aquatic mat occurs where water is slow moving and sunlight penetrates to the river bottom ca. 1-2 m depth. Community is dominated by Heteranthera dubia and Potamogeton spp. with a large component of the invasive Myriophyllum aquaticum. The river is currently at a low floatable level and has been runable later in the season than normal.
