Community repeats down the South Branch Potomac River in areas with slow moving flat water. This stretch of river is somewhat isolated with no road access. The only access is via the railroad on river left or the river. This site occurs in a private stretch of river between two tracts of the South Branch WMA within the "Trough".;Rooted herbaceous aquatic community confined to slower stretchws of river. Here the water is over 1 m deep. Community is dominated by Heteranthera dubia and Potamogeton sp. A large component of the invasive Myriophyllum aquaticum is also present within the plot. The river is running at a low foatable level. Sunlight penetrates most of the way to the river bottom. When floating in the zone of aquatics the current is almost imperceptible.
Representativeness
Large patch of rooted herbaceous aquatic community dominated by mud plaintain, pondweed, and parrot's feather. Plot was sampled from canoe. Field form was later filled out in office based on filed notes, Garmin point and memory.
