CR10 is located upslope ca. 40 m. Across the road is a deciduous forest HORI.2. The forest around our plot is broken up between areas with hemlock dominance and areas with tulip poplar dominance.;Open second growth forest dominated by Tsuga canadensis- Betula alleghaniensis/ Rhododendron maximum growing on a SE facing toe slope. There is little to no sub canopy or deciduous shrubs in the plot. This is likely due to deer browse. Even the Rhododendron appears to be munched. There is a small intermittent drainage in the middle of the plot. It is dry at the time of the survey. The drainage is fed by a culvert from the road above the plot.
Representativeness
Large patch of mixed evergreen-deciduous forest. Plot was placed to sample the evergreen signature. Area was surveyed to fill in gaps in the state wide vegetation classification. This plot is similar to areas sampled in the MONF, GARI, AUSP, and KUMB.
