The railroad is located ca. 70 m NE. Between here and there is a successional woodland of juniper and sycamore. To the SW ca. 20 m is a trail, beyond that are cattails. To the N ca. 70 m is another stand of cattails. Beyond that is a sycamore forest. The surrounding area is a large marl wetland complex under a TNC easment. Surrounding that is agricultural land;Open and sunny sedge meadow growing on marl. The herb layer is dominated by Juncus spp. and Carex spp.. There is a piezometer located within our plot.
Representativeness
Small patch of graminoid/herbaceous dominated marl marsh. Plot was placed to limit shrub cover. Last September the stand appeared to be dominated by goldenrod. Now it is mostly sedge and rush dominated.
