To southwest along AT crosses geology break and becomes a rich oak-hickory forest with lush herbs. Rock ledges along WV / VA border have Umbillicaria, abundant Heuchera.;Relatively high mountain slope near local ridge summit on acidic lithology. A deciduous forest is dominated by large, fairly tall red oaks with mixed maples in subcanopies. There is low cover by ericad shrubs and acid tolerant ferns, graminoids and forbs. Although this plot shares many species with JENF.10, the overall cover and discriminate species make it seem a very different forest.
