An old road runs the ridgeline approximately 20m upslope. Somewhat more mesic oak-hickory is on the opposite face. Old NW RR Bed Road is ca .5 miles north, Laurel Lake is ca .4 miles northeast.;Upper slope on a dry westerly aspect with little, if any, herbaceous cover. Other nearby but opposing aspects show signs of fire, less sign here. Fallen wood still litters the site and sveral snags are standing. The T2 canopy is visibly less dense and at a generally lower height than LALA.2 and LALA.3
Representativeness
Plot was placed to sample a typical western aspect for the Laurel Lake WMA. It represents a classic subxeric oak-heath forest. Similar to other plots of this type sampled in WV though here there is considerably less Kalmia.
