Bluff overlooks the North Branch and across it, a developed valley bottom in Maryland. Valley bottom on WV side is cleared for agriculture. Surrounding forest is red oak - sugar maple - chinquapin oak. Downslope is huge, precipitous cliff all the way to river.;Limestone bluffs overlooking the outside bend of river. Rock is platy light-gray, with ledges interspresed by loose shelves and chutes. Old junipers are dead and gutted by fire some time ago. Community is now shrubby glade with asters and grasses prominent at this late sampling date.
Representativeness
Small patch of open/shrubby bluff. Plot includes entire patch but others are repeated below and across slope. Lichen on rock collected with usual vascular floristics. Plot includes 2 short cliff bands and shelves.
