Open wetland next to this community has patchy, beaver influenced mosaic of speckled alder, bluejoint, tussuck sedges, and shrubby St. John's Wort. Uphill is dry white oak - white pine / ericad forest.;Bottom of narrow valley between two ridges. Rarely flooded alluvial terrace with acidic sandy loam soil. Community is a mixed deciduous - evergreem forest dominated by large white pine and white oak with tuliptree, gum, and red maple. Understory is dominated by tall cinnamon fern, and patches of New York fern and white pine saplings. Forest is probably a semi-natural successional type, but pine may have long term potential.

Medium -size patch of mesic white pine-white oak forest in bottom. Repeated on other side of creek. About 40 m wide on this side of the drainage.
