Landscape Narrative ? Large open glade. Botanical Area next to wilderness. Surrounding plot is a more open woodland of Pinus strobus - Picea rubens with Eriophorum, Sphagnum, Vaccinium, and Osmunda.;Conifer island in a sea of "bog". Forest physiognomy at center of stand giving way to woodland on edges where more open bog species (Eriophorum) grow. Center has broad hummocks around tree bases with dry needle litter. Swales have Carex trisperma and Sphagnum. Some pines seem stressed. Spruce will probably take over but pine got here first.
Representativeness ? Plot is centered around highest canopy cover by Pinus strobus including one very large tree - maybe the original tree mentioned by Darlington. Forest physiognomy defined by Carex trisperma - falls out quickly in the sun.
