Upland forest is Picea rubens and mixed Picea - northern hardwoods with many high elevation indicators (Vaccinium erythrocarpum, Viburnum alnifolium). These seepy streams drain into a larger creek with a beaver influenced wetland.;Seepy stream terrace with herbaceous community under a closed canopy of mostly overhanging trees, mostly Betula alleghaniensis and Acer rubrum, small spruce trees on nurse logs extending into wetland. Herb cover dominated by Carex scabrata, Impatiens, and Viola. Trees in wetland have raised root masses (started on nurse logs).
Representativeness
Narrow zone on stream terrace of small ephemeral stream. Repeated in smaller patches along larger stream terrace and in other channels in this low gradient slope bottom (compare to MONF.140 with canopy opening).
