Wetland is adjacent to the Dolly Sods Wilderness and a TNC land holding. The landscape is a mosaic of remnant spruce forest. Low shrub communities with Vaccinium myrtilloides, Vaccinium angustifolium, Gaylussacia baccata, rock rivers with old burned stumps, and Deschampsia.;Open "bog" community with Sphagnum rubellum hummocks. Higher areas (this plot) dominated by Eriophorum virginicum, lows (MONF.233) dominated by Rhynchospora alba.
