The bog is surrounded by a Picea rubens, Prunus serotina, Betula alleghaniensis forest. The community lies between this upland forest and an open "bog" community dominated by Eriophorum / Sphagnum.;Mid-successional woodland. The hemlocks are dying. There is some adelgid sign but they appear to be more stressed by the water. One of the major disturbances to this wetland has been researchers. There is tons of debris left over from old projects. There isn't much disturbance to this community. The major threats are hemlock woody adelgid and possible future logging of the surrounding upland forest.
Representativeness
Small patch woodland growing along the edge of the "bog". This differs from most of our other woodland plots. Most were dominated by Picea rubens this one is dominated by Tsuga canadensis.
