Balsam fir swamp surrounds this open area except to the east, where a beaver pond lies. Red pine plantation buffers the thin band of balsam from the road on the south. Blister Run flows through the community.;Mid-successional, probably with frequent disturbance from beaver. This herbaceous wet floodplain meadow is probably flooded at high water. It lies below an active beaver dam. Small channels weave through the community, which has a few alder and Hypericum shrubs and many grasses and herbs.
Representativeness
This community lines Blister Run on the western end of the swamp in areas that are not directly flooded by beavers. The plot was placed on the southern side of Blister Run. The community continues across the northern side of the stream.
