The seep is immediately surrounded by a Tsuga canadensis - Betula alleghaniensis / Rhododendron maximum forest. The forest is only 3ft. higher in elevation and completely dry as well as devoid of herbs. There is a trail which crosses the toeslope 50m North of plot. The above forest is an upland Acer saccharum - Prunus serotina.;The seep is overhung by a Tsuga canadensis - Betula alleghaniensis forest. The community appears to be seep fed however occasional inputs from flooding are suspected. The opening has some slow moving low gradient surficial flow. The community is in an old oxbow of Beaver Dam Run. There are a series of low old stream channels and Tsuga canadensis - Betula alleghaniensis "levees".
Representativeness
Several small patches located in old stream channel lows broken up by Tsuga canadensis - Betula alleghaniensis forested levees. The plot is a small patch herbaceous seep community. Although the aerial photography shows this is a forest, the community is t
