Upland Spruce - Hemlock forest to the west. Streams eventually bound this community to the east. No trails or roads for > 1 mile. Very nice context. Past logging of upland slopes visible in air photos and area could be subject to logging in the future. Large Tsuga and Picea 50m outside of plot.;Good structure with tip mounds, down wood, and large Bazzania-covered root hummocks. Sunny spots where the canopy is interrupted by downfall are covered with dense herbaceous vegetation and bryophytes. This area is maintained by seepage from uplands that collect in meander scrolls at the confluence of several headwater streams. Very occasional large floods (100 yrs.?) may reach this community.
