Herbaceous community types along river include tall herbs and Carex trichocarpa monocultures.;Floodplain of Greenbrier River with levees and swales running in parallels to river. On levees are variable forests, this one with dominance by large Tsuga canadensis and Picea rubens with smaller Betula alleghaniensis and Prunus serotina. Ground cover is dense sward of Thelypteris noveboracensis or bare litter under shade of large trees. These forests may be only occasionally flooded but are clearly on fluvial landforms
