There are roads on both sides of the river but on this side the road is above a small cliff band so floodplain is probably seldom visited. Along river is a steep eroding bank no ecotone or riverscour community between it and this community type.;Floodplain forest on a broad undulating plain with levees and swales. Tree species and flora reflect a middle elevation with both Platanus occidentalis and Betula alleghaniensis present in the stand. Plot is dominated by Tsuga canadensis and Liriodendron tulipifera in the canopy with part of the plot having a dense thicket of Rhododendron and part more open. There are small piles of light flotsam behind lower trees and layered sediments which indicate . Stand is intermittently flooded.
Representativeness
Fairly typical of forest on large high floodplain, includes some Rhododendron thickets and a more open center with moderate herb cover. Elevation varies about 1 meter in plot.
