See MONF.205 and MONF.242, and any other plots or obs. Points recorded today.;Sunny and rocky borderline forest/woodland dominated by Picea rubens. The GPS was placed in a rocky opening to make it easier to collect points. Most of the target area is almost impenetrable spruce trees with inter-twining branches. Where spruce canopy opens it is either jagged boulders covered with lichens or dense Rhododendron maximum - Kalmia latifolia patches. No soils here only litter/duff composed mostly of Spruce needles. Most likely all the soil burned and ran off after being cut 1890-1900.
Representativeness
Small patch of spruce woodland / forest. Our obs. point was placed in the large rocky opening on the photo. Here it is more of a woodland; out of the rock pile it is more of a forest.
