Protected botanical area in Mon. National Forest. Bordered by Cranberry River to the east, alder thicket and cranberry bog to the north, and south.;Graminoid meadow at confluence of Charles Creek and Cranberry River. Charles Creek drops 30cm to cascade into Cranberry River. This patch at the confluence is dryer than surrounding wetlands, probably due to levee build-up. During high flows there may be some sedimentation. The community probably floods several times each year and also receives seepage on the side away from the river, which grades into a narrow band of 3-way sedge. Beavers are active on the stream.
Representativeness
Similar to other Calamagrostis canadensis alluvial meadows, but with higher cover of bulrushes.
