Large matrix Northern Hardwood forest running along a N, S ridge line. There is a gated FS rd 100m below the plot. The ridgetop is roughly 200m upslope. The surrounding forest appears to be very similar to plots MONF.348 and 349.;Nice stand of second growth forest dominated by Red Oak, Black Cherry, and Beech. Few herbs and no Oak regeneration is a sure sign of deer browse. The Red Oaks are localized to the plot. Most of the surrounding forest is PRSE, FAGR. The forest here is not quite 1/2 leafed out. The O'story trees are widespread making it hard to get more than a handful in the plot. There is a considerable amount of windthrow with no discernable direction.
