High mountaintop with a road going to the top. Extensive spruce forests and woodlands along ridge to the north with mostly deciduous forests to the East and South. Downslope grades to dense shrub thickets with spruce more scattered than in this plot.;High elevation mountaintop with boulder fields of Pottsville sandstone caprock. Community is an open woodland of somewhat gnarled, stunted Picea rubens with some flagging apparent on most trees. Between the spruce are open rock fields with lichens and dense shrub thickets dominated by Menziesia pilosa. Spruce trees have skirts which we have included as
