Extensive plains with this c.t, deciduous forest/ rhododendron, spruce/kalmia forest (plot MONF.313) and spruce/nemopanthus woodlands.;Rolling plateau on sandstone conglomerate parent material. Community is a forest of relativly tall, well spaced Picea rubens with some Betula alleghaniensis in the subcanopy. There is a dense shrub layer dominated by Rhododendron maximum and patchy bryophyte cover dominated by Bazzania trilobata. Trees are taller and fatter than plot MONF.314, but about same age, probably indicating high site index.
