High road density but road through this polygon is gated. There is also an old logging road (abandoned) just below plot. Many of the conifer shrubs in this area are plantations.;West and north facing cove near top of mountain. Forest with codominance by Picea rubens and Tsuga canadensis with a lesser amount of deciduous trees. There is a fair amount of down wood. High age class diversity of spruce and hemlock. Heavily shaded areas have almost no herbs and more open areas have moderate cover of Dryopteris intermedia.
Representativeness
Fairly large "mature" polygon on USFS layer. Plot includes mix of hemlock and spruce with heavily shaded barren areas and canopy gap with higher herb cover. Typical for polygon.
