Just upslope mapped as opening on topo is a younger forest developed on old pature with rock piles. Downslope, another mapped opening is clearly acidic with Vaccinium spp. and regenerating oak. Extensive mapped limestone band smaller than mapped? But Belmont soils are mapped downslope - maybe this is Mauch Chunk?;Young forest on putative limestone substrate. Gently sloping ridge spur woith southern exposure. Forest dominated by oaks and shagbark hickory with a somewhat dense herb layer dominated by Carex woodii and Actaea racemosa. Low pH, but nutrient status is reflected in herb layer.
