Additional small patches of this association occur between here and Whitmeadow Run. Remote reach of river except for railroad on river right downstream. Upland forest dominated by Betula allegheniensis and Rhododendron maximum. .;Sunny prairie with some shrubs on an island in the Shavers Fork River. Frequently flooded cobbley alluvium. Lower edges at least are subject to ice scour in winter which removes woody vegetation.

Plot includes entire island. Plot includes about 1-2 m range in elevation with Marshalia grandifolia and Andropogon gerardii on higher ground in middle and Euthamia graminifolia and Carex aquatilis on lower ground along river's edge.
